Grooming Table
Version 2

I did not design this... this was designed by:

These instructions are from Mark and Gia Raymond of Calabria Australian Shepherds

For the project you will need:  A good paint brush, non-skid paint or normal paint with a non-skid additive.  Total cost?  Approximately $10.00 (not counting the table)

A few notes before we get started;  The table we selected is great as long as it isn't intended to be abused (i.e. dropped, left in the rain, etc.).  It is constructed out of 1/2" compressed particle board.  The same stuff most build-at-home computer desks are made from.  If it gets wet it can warp or split.  The top of this table is covered with a wood grain veneer (decal).  The only thing that this table has in common with lumber is weight (but it looks pretty).  To reinforce the table top, the manufacturer has installed a metal band that screws into the bottom of the table.  I've sat on the table and it didn't break (I weigh in at 200+).  It should be strong enough for the dogs.

We're being cheap. We bought the table

Step 1:  Go buy the table.  We picked this up at Office Depot for $30.  You'll find it with the rest of the folding conference tables.  This is the smallest one.  It's normally $40 dollars but they put them on sale all the time.
Clean it up Step 2:  Remove most of the veneer top.  We didn't totally remove it, we just roughed it up to allow the paint to stick to something.
The paint of choice Step 3:  Prepare the paint.  We used an exterior grade floor paint with a no-slip additive.  One nice thing about the paint is you can have it mixed in any color you like.  My wife likes green.  It's become the official Calabria color.
goop it on Time to apply the paint.  The package says apply two coats allowing the first to dry before applying the second.  Being impatient, we applied the second coat after the first became tacky.

It's a simple table.  Just attach a grooming arm and you're ready to go.
